After months of preparation we finally departed. With heavy backpacks (7kg each) and a healthy dose of nervousness!

And we’re already there! At least according to this sign, which reads “日本へようこそ” (Nihon e youkoso)- “Welcome to Japan” in the bottom.
In reality we’ve been enjoying this parking lot declaration next ot our flat for years. As far as we can tell none of the other languages says anything but “Welcome”. Just the Japanese version welcomes you in the language’s country of origin. 😀
Right now we are sitting at the airport, eagerly awaiting the boarding call. Then we’ll head from Hamburg to Dubai, then from Dubai to Tokyo and after a very short night at a nearby transit hotel we’ll finally take our last flight to Hokkaido, Memanbetsu Airport, where we’ll have to take a bus at 9:50 AM local time to Utoro. Please wish us luck, that everything goes according to plan. The next post will hopefully be from the other side of the world!
